The HI-506 is monolithic CMOSmultiplexers each include an array of sixteen and eightanalog switches respectively, a digital decoder circuit forchannel selection, voltage reference for logic thresholds, andan enable input for device selection when severalmultiplexers are present. The Dielectric Isolation (DI)process used in fabrication of these devices eliminates theproblem of latchup. DI also offers much lower substrateleakage and parasitic capacitance than conventional junctionisolated CMOS (see Application Note AN520). The switching threshold for each digital input is established byan internal +5V reference, providing a guaranteed minimum2.4V for logic “1” and maximum 0.8V for logic “0”. This allowsdirect interface without pullup resistors to signals from mostlogic families: CMOS, TTL, DTL and some PMOS. Forprotection against transient overvoltage, the digital inputsinclude a series 200O resistor and diode clamp to eachsupply.
